About us:

   SPLTV is the result of a couple of old techies getting together on a car audio forum and talking about not being able to go to a car audio show out of state, and wishing we knew what the scores were.  We were on the phone with some friends who made the trip, trying to get the latest breaking news from the show.

Being the first to post scores on the forum wasn't a huge deal, but the people wanted to know what was going on, and then it hit me.  Why not give everybody what they want?  Give them the car show!  So we decided to bring the car show to all those folks who couldn't make it.  No more calling friends and typing on the forums.  Let them watch the event and see the scores for themselves.

We knew there were other places trying to do the same thing, but it just wasn't like watching a live event.  The pics were grainy, and the video wasn't really video, instead it was a picture updated every 10 to 30 seconds or so.  We knew that in order to do this, we would have to be better than what was currently available, but the cost of bringing live video feeds was just too high.  Well leave it to a couple of old techies to figure things out.

No more http server streaming which degrades the video content as the number of viewers increases.  We push our content to a dedicated Windows Media Server which allows us to bring you full motion live video at up to DVD quality!  Of course the average viewer can't watch in DVD quality.  The majority of viewers have DSL or cable internet connections, but there are still a large number of viewers who are still using 56Kbps dial up.  So to make it where the majority of people can view our content, we've decided to stream in 320 X 240 @ 30 fps and as high as 640 X 480 @ 30fps.

We're also adding an area to our site where viewers can drop their own car and car audio related video clips for other viewers.  We will screen the content and assign a rating and then post the link for everyone else.
